Her major research papers include "Overseas Chinese without Chinatown: The transformation and dynamism of the overseas Chinese community in Osaka" (doctoral thesis), "Social transformation, women and family in postwar Taiwan" and "Transformation of Chinese Christian churches in Osaka."

はじめに 1920年代から30年代にかけて、日本の統治下であった台湾から多くの若者が日本本土に留学した。いわゆる内地留学である。専門分野は多岐にわたっているが、特に実業と医学関係が多かった。1930年代後半以降には、男子だけではなく女子の留学生も増加する。女子を含む台湾人の日本留学の隆盛の背景には、日本統治下において男女ともに教育水準の向上によって進学熱が高まったものの、台湾での高等教育の限界があったことがあげられる。また、日本統治下で日本の言葉や風習にすでに慣れ親しんで…
