Doctoral candidate at the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University. Specializes in American studies, Japanese American history and literature. His papers include "The Story of a Second Generation Returnee Who Chose Disloyalty: What Can Be Seen from Edward T. Miyakawa's Tule Lake " ( AALA Journal No. 12, Asian American Literature Research Association, 2006) and "Okina Hisayoshi's Identity and Literary Theory of Immigrant Lands" (Human and Environmental Studies, Vol. 16, Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, 2007).
