Opening Remarks by Hiroshi Furusawa (Consul, Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles) at the “Kenjinkai: Past, Present, and Future” program on March 28, 2009 at the Japanese American National Museum Los Angeles, CA. In this video clip from the program, he talks about participating in a Fukuoka-ken centennial anniversary event, and the important role that Kenjinkai have played in the community. He encourages younger people to join in the Kenjinkai activities to learn about their own roots and traditions. The program, presented by Discover Nikkei, was organized by the Japanese Prefectural Association of Southern California (Nanka Kenjinkai Kyogikai) and the Japanese American National Museum in collaboration with Hiroken - Hiroshima Kenjinkai, Kagoshima Heritage Club - Kagoshima Kenjinkai, Mie Kenjinkai, and Yamaguchi Kenjinkai.
