Caption: "Mrs. Tsutsui, who speaks mostly in Japanese, has been photographed many times in front of Waikane Store, which her family has run on the Windward side of O‘ahu since 1929. I looked for an interesting location on the property to photograph her in, and was attracted to a corrugated iron wall in back of the garage. When she smiled, I thought she looked childlike. It’s only when you look at her hands that you can tell she has been through a lot over the years." -- Brian Sato
