ミノル・シンモト
(Minoru Shinmoto)
シンモト・ミノル（ミン）は、1925年6月30日にカリフォルニア州アップランドで生まれました。彼は、日本の広島出身のシンモト・ツネタロウとハルヨの5人兄弟の3番目の息子でした。
彼は、1930年代半ばに西南地区で暮らし、育ったことを思い出す。1939年に家族はカリフォルニア州フレズノ近郊のサンホアキンバレーにあるキングスバーグに引っ越した。アメリカが第二次世界大戦に参戦すると、シンモト一家はアリゾナ州ヒラリバー強制収容所に収容され、ミンは1943年にキャナル高校を卒業した。
ミンは 1944 年にアメリカ陸軍に徴兵され、アラバマ州フォート マクレランで基礎訓練を受けました。その後数か月間、日本占領軍とともに福岡で過ごし、その後 10 人の MIS 隊を率いて満州からの帰還者を尋問しました。最終的に、1946 年 11 月にアメリカ陸軍から除隊しました。
ミンはその後 51 年間、カルバーシティにある家族経営の苗木小売業、サザン カリフォルニア ナーサリー社で働きました。家族経営のこの会社は 1999 年 3 月 1 日に閉鎖され、ミンは妻とともに 55 年間連れ添ったカリフォルニア州トーランスで引退しました。夫妻には 3 人の子供、2 人の孫、1 人のひ孫がいました。

The Shinmoto family history in America dates back to 1923, when Tsuneo Anthony (Tony), then five months old, and his father, Tsunetaro (1897-1972) and mother, Haruyo Tanaka Shinmoto (1902-1982) landed in San Francisco from Hiroshima, Japan.
