Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
It made me feel stronger mentally not knowing if the next shell had your name on it. Coming out of the war having done my part was important.
Additional information
Drafted 1-7-42 Fort MacArthur. Basic at Ft. Warren, WY. Transferred to Ft. Riley, KS. Did menial tasks. Drove truck or staff car. Went to Camp Shelby, MS as cadre for 442nd. Trained as Mortar Sgt. Later to Supply Sgt. of 'E' Co. Went oversea with original 442nd and came home after the war on points.
