Growing up I looked forward to going to my maternal grandparents' for our New Year Celebration. Since they passed on we held a larger gathering with extended family. Due to the pandemic we had to scale down so I prepared all of the foods for my immediate family. There are traditional "osechi favorites" plus other Japanese-American New Year's standards like futomaki, inari sushi, teriyaki chicken, chashu and tempura.
