ONE WAY OR ANOTHER - Artist Laurel Nakadate

Licensing

Born in 1975 in Austin, Texas, Laurel Nakadate is one of the featured artists in the exhibition "One Way or Another: Asian American Art Now" currently on display at the Japanese American National Museum. In her work, Nakadate, oftentimes with the help of single men invited to participate with her in front of the camera, stage improvised vignettes that combine comedy and sadness, explore issues of exploitation and voyeurism.

What follows is a collection of video interviews with Laurel Nakadate speaking about her background and her creative process.
