Living conditions
Hutment (sic) - during training. Houses out of combat zone. Individual tent in combat. Meals were good. Our cook prepare oriental meals with rice as often as they could . Took showers wherever and whenever possible.
Most vivid memory of military experience
Spending 4 hours in greyhound station bath room after curfew in order not to be taken in by Military Police.
Missed most whilst in the military
Japanese food.
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
Gave me the opportunity to complete my college education. Some wonderful relationships I developed. Got to see places and conditions in the South first hand - prejudice against blacks as well as Jews.
