Living conditions
Living condition overseas was at a minimum. Bivouaced in pup tents. In combat we slept any place where we could find cover from ground fire and shell bursts. Foxholes were filled with water. I had no time for entertainment.
Most vivid memory of military experience
War is hell - better to forget than trying to remember.
Missed most whilst in the military
A good home cooked meal. News from home.
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
To be able to prove our loyalty regardless of flagrant violation of our civil rights. I hope the younger generation will carry on where we left off and fight the discrimination which still exists.
