Living conditions
We lived in tents on the Seoul University grounds which was the HQ for the 8th US Army Advanced.
All bathing facilities and mess halls were in school buildings.
We had nightly outdoor movies and football, softball team competition.
Most vivid memory of military experience
Realized how cruel war was. Thankful that I was born an American and lived in America.
Missed most whilst in the military
Ice cream, hamburger and sleeping in a bed between clean white sheets.
Most important thing, personally, to come from military experience?
Never, ever take anything for granted. We should be thankful for all our friends and families we have. We should be thankful for the roof we have over our heads and the food on the table.
