I was attached to Company I, 442nd RCT and sent to Italy and Southern France, Vosges Mountains, Bruyeres, France. We were called upon to rescue the Lost Battalion (36th Division). They were surrounded by German Forces. At that time I was wounded by a bullet through the left upper arm. After we lost nearly two battalions of men, we were sent to rest center at Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Menton. The 442nd was again asked to return to Northern Italy in a region called the Po Valley. On 04/10/1945, I was wounded in the upper left femur and lost the use of my left leg and classified as 100% disabled.
