Most vivid memory of military experience
My father would share only a few stories of his military experience. (1) While in Germany, he had a woman make a shirt for him out of material from a parachute. Rather than accept payment, she wanted lard. When Seiji brought her a gallon of lard which he had bartered for from the mess hall staff, the woman and her family scooped spoonfuls of the lard directly into their mouths.
