Rev. Shinyu Sato and Rev. Taisen Miyata of Koyasan Buddhist Temple give prayers during the dedication ceremony for the Aoyama Tree on July 17, 2008.

The Aoyama Tree was planted by the Koyasan Daishi Mission in 1920 and named for that mission's founder, the Reverend Shutai Aoyama. It had been designated a Living Historic Cultural Landmark by the City of Los Angeles.
