Naomi Noiri, Associate Professor of Sociology, Center for Migration Studies, University of the Ryukyus. Here she is speaking at the "Community Forum: Okinawans and Their Global Networks" event held at the Japanese National Museum on Saturday, March 1, 2008.
Her specialty is Comparative sociology. Her research interests are Amerasian, Nikkei, and foreigners in Okinawa. Currently she is also researching about Amerasian in Hawaii and Uchinanchu Identity.
Her presentation was entitled "Identity, Uniqueness of Hawaii and Gender of Uchina Networking". It is available to read in English and Japanese.
