Participated with 442nd 'L' Co. in their Italian Campaign. He was reported missing in action on 14 November 1944 during fighting to rescue the 'Lost' 1st Battalion, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Division. His remains were not recovered until 1951 but was presumed killed in action on 15 November 1944.

Additional information
He was in the Minidoka Relocation Camp and volunteered for military service in 1943. His parents were Sentaro and Kiyo Ikeda. One sister, Fukuko, married Tak Okamoto. All are deceased. Masao was married to Sei Kanagawa Ikeda Fujiwara for 5 months before he enlisted. He is buried at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetary, Seattle, Washington.
