Condiciones de Vida
I lived in barracks in Japan and tents in Korea.
I slept in fox holes and in buildings.
I bathed in rivers, creeks, and field showers.
For entertainment I played cards and went fishing in rivers when at rest.
Recuerdo más vívido de la experiencia militar
While in Japan, I received punctured lung. While I was in the hospital, I got shots every six hours. Medic's used me for a dart board. In North Korea with Lieutenant and Korean sergeant, I got stuck behind enemy lines for three days while on recon when Chinese broke through center of line for 125 milles.
Lo que más extraño durante su tiempo en las fuerzas armadas
I missed my family, my friends and car.
¿En lo personal, qué obtuvo de su experiencia militar?
I grew up and became more responsible. I learned to take orders and learned to get along with anybody. I learned to eat anything, including parsnip, canned beans and spinach. I got married in Japan in 1947 and am still happily married.
