In the internment camps such as Lemon creek, B.C., recreational activities were an import facet of the young people’s lives.
Baseball was a favorite sports activity, especially since baseball was a popular sport in the prewar period. The famous Ashahi baseball team in Vancouver attracted a large following in Japan town at the Powell Street playground. Just prior to WW 11, the team won the City championship. This photo shows a pickup team of 12 and 14 year old boys.
