市民権と政治の世界

1950年代には、日系人にとって政治的に大きな変化が二つありました。移民法改正とハワイが州として認定されたことです。

これによって、一世の市民権取得が可能になり、特に当時、総人口の過半数以上を日系人が占めていたハワイでは、日系人の国政参画が可能になりました。

結果、ハワイから日系人の国会議員が選出されました。写真は、ダニエル・K・イノウエ上院議員です。
