My neighbor Robert Yoshida was in the Topaz internment camp from 1942-1945. He worked as an Electrician, you can see him in the left side of the pictures with the cat and sunglasses. At this time the crew was working on the electricity for the High School Auditorium at the camp. The transformer (the big metal block), weighed over 1500 hundred pounds. Robert's job was to do wiring, so all the wires you see in the photo he connected himself. He earned 16 dollars a month for his work, which was not much less than a Doctors pay of 19 dollars a month.
