(Japanese) The children growing up in the colony… the Nisei and Sansei grow up to be more Japanese. Because it is the age of education, many study abroad or move to the big cities in order to pursue higher education. In doing so, much of the youth marry locals and build families. They hold onto their pride as Japanese while adopting customs from Paraguayans. The building of society within these conditions has created a generation when the youth prioritize local life, as they will become working people within the local society.

Nació en el distrito de Miyoshi, prefectura de Tokuyama, Japón. A los 14 años emigró a la Colonia La Paz en Paraguay. Mientras trabajaba en la agricultura, ejerció cargos comunitarios en la Cooperativa de Agricultores de La Paz, Cooperativa de Agricultores Nikkei de Paraguay, y en la Federación de Cooperativa de Producción del Paraguay. En 1987 recibió la Tercera Orden del Mérito del Gobierno de Paraguay. Entre 1992 y 1996, y luego en 2002 y 2003, fue intendente de La Paz. En 2004 fue el primer inmigrante japonés que fuera embajador en Japón, cargo que cumplió hasta octubre de 2009. (Diciembre de 2009)
