This picture shows an object from the Pokemon craze phenomenon—a Pokemon video game cartridge. Imported from Japan, this game was commercially successful in America and was part of a bigger wave of Pokemon related things, such as a hit t.v. show, a movie, a trading card game, and other miscellaneous merchandise. The Pokemon phenomenon is interesting to analyze as it reflects several ways in which Japan has successfully exported its culture to other parts of the world.
