Dr. Sybil Jordan Hampton (Little Rock, Arkansas), a participant at the "Whose America? Who's American? Diversity, Civil Liberties, and Social Justice" National Conference in Denver, Colorado presented by the Japanese American National Museum.

The photo was taken at the Discover Nikkei booth in the Community Marketplace on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency, Denver.

Dr. Sybil Jordan Hampton comments:
As an African-American who participated in the Civil Rights Movement, this conference helps me to understand the broader civil rights struggle in America. I realize that one people's suffering and oppression have to become part of the larger American story. I am my brother and sister's keeper.
