Aoi Restaurant in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district. They're located on First Street near the crosswalk between Central Avenue and Judge John Aiso Street. This photo was taken on October 26, 2007.

Aoi is a family-owned restaurant run by two sisters originally from Japan. They have been in business for over 20 years. Inside, in addition to the menus they hand you, if you can read Japanese, there are additional specials written in brush. A great place to go to eat, especially if you like fish. Reasonable prices and ample portions. They're also known for their chicken bowl that's available only to-go.

Very friendly service. Always packed during the week at lunchtime with the people who work in the downtown area. They have a lot of regular customers who they remember and greet even sometimes after years of not seeing them.

I found a great little article about them on sushiandtofu.com:
