UCLA の日系学生連合 (NSU) は、1981 年にケン・ミナミ、アルバート・サイショ、ケンジ・サイショによって設立され、社交イベントを開催するだけでなく、文化的伝統とコミュニティー サービスを育む場を提供することを目指しました。現在、NSU は UCLA キャンパスで 200 名を超える多様な背景を持つメンバーを受け入れており、学生が日系アメリカ人の経験について学び、それぞれの視点や願望を発信する機会を提供しています。社交、文化、学問、慈善活動、スポーツなど、メンバーはそれぞれ NSU のさまざまな側面に関わり、自己成長を図ることができます。NSU のビジョンは、日系コミュニティーの繁栄に向けて活動するという創設者たちの基盤の上に築かれ、拡大し続けています。
