Richard Sakai
I’m not related to Richard Sakai* but there’s a funny story. I was invited to the premier of the Simpsons Movie. Actually, it was a prescreening, at the FOX Studios. And they’re very selective on who got in or anything. So I pulled into the parking lot, and they had a list and said, “What’s your name?” So I said, “Sakai,” and they said, “Oh, really? Yes, go right on in.” And even Sharon said, “Gee, they must really like Usagi [Yojimbo] at this studio.” And it was about a minute later that I thought, “Oh, they must have thought I was Richard Sakai.” * Note: Richard Sakai is an American producer best known for partnering with James L. Brooks and for his work on The Simpsons.
