Ets Yoshiyama recalls a friend who was killed by a train while riding his bike at the corner of First Street and Alameda in Little Tokyo. The many streetcar and train tracks that criss-crossed Little Tokyo made the streets quite dangerous for children, one of the reasons that Miss Oliver was interested in moving recreation into the Stimson Institute / Daiichi Gakuen yard.
