Northeastern Illinois University hosts a reopening of "Winning the Peace" in conjunction with the University's 16th Annual Asian American Heritage Conference. "Winning the Peace" tells the little-known story of the Japanese-language specialists of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) and their contributions in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations during and after World War II.

"Winning the Peace" is presented by the Japanese American Service Committee in cooperation with Northeastern Illlinois University; Chicago Nisei Post No. 1183, American Legion; Japanese American Citizens League, Chicago Chapter; Chicago Japanese American Historical Society; and Japanese Mutual Aid Society of Chicago, Tom T. Arai Bequest. Major funding was provided through a grant from the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior.
