Henry Sugimoto, "Praying for Safety"
This piece serves as a reflection of Sugimoto's deep faith. Two elderly Japanese Americans, probably Issei, pray for their friends and family, for their children and for each other. Sugimoto, in a draft of his redress testimony given in 1981, said, "Would you join me in a silent prayer for the loving memory of those young nisei soldiers who died on the battlefield, and also for those immigrant issei who died here in the U.S., who worked so hard to raise children under such painful actions against them?"
