  Dreams \n\nTashme Productions launches Yume. Digital Dreams \n\n14 Japa
 nese Canadian artists collaborate to create new digital work! \n\nAs cult
 ural connectors and activists\, Tashme Productions is proud to contribute 
 to the national community as Japanese Canadians\, showcasing the vibrant c
 ontemporary Japanese Canadian art practice to both our community\, and a w
 ider Canadian audience!  \n\n14 Professional Artists selected from the Ja
 panese Canadian Artist Directory will collaborate  online\, in pairs over
  4 months to create exciting New digital Work. \n\nThe Directory\, www.ja
 panesecanadianartists.com features rich profiles of Japanese Canadian arti
 sts  past and present and is a huge achievement on the part of the Japane
 se Canadian national community. Like  all community resources\, the Direc
 tory benefits from continued investment\, and project leaders Matt Miwa  
 and Julie Tamiko Manning are proposing a dynamic opportunity to pair-up 14
  of its featured artists to  encounter each other\, and to create new\, o
 nline work collaboratively. Both the bi-monthly process updates  and the 
 outcomes of these experiments will be featured via social media platforms 
 and on our project’s new  website yumedigitaldreams.art (launching Febr
 uary 15th!) which will link directly to the Directory. \n\nThe project we
 lcomes a roster of talented and diverse artists who span generations\, art
 istic disciplines and  who come from all corners of Canada. They are: Bac
 o Ohama (Calgary\, AB)\, Poet/Visual art\;  Dawn Obokata (Toronto\, ON)\,
  Theatre Artist\; Hitoshi Sugiyama (Edmonton\, AB)\, Electronic  Music/Fl
 ute\; Jon Sasaki (Toronto\, ON)\, Multi-Disciplinary Artist\; Kayla Isomur
 a (New Westminster\,  BC)\, Photographer\; Kunji Ikeda (Calgary\, AB)\, D
 ance/theatre\; Lillian Michiko Blakey\, (Newmarket\,  ON) Visual Art\; Li
 nda Hoffman (Vancouver\, BC)\, Taiko/Interdisciplinary Artist\; Michael Fu
 kushima  (Eastern Townships\, QC)\, Filmmaker\; Miya Turnbull (Halifax\, 
 NS)\, Visual Art\; Noriko Kim  Kobayashi (Surrey\, BC)\, Taiko / Musician
 \; Shion Skye Carter (Vancouver\, BC)\, Experimental Dancer\;  Teiya Kasa
 hara (Toronto\, ON)\, Opera\; and Will Shintani (Toronto\, ON)\, Visual Ar
 tist.\n\nThe goal of Yume. Digital Dreams is to grow the national profile 
 of the Directory\, transforming it from an  archival hub of cultural know
 ledge to an active resource of community outreach\, exchange and real-time
   artistic evolution. The project is unique in that it will share interge
 nerational\, interdisciplinary and cross regional connections and exchange
 s as the artists negotiate their respective processes towards a final piec
 e in  real time.  \n\nThe project runs from February to May. Keep an eye
  out for an invitation to the final vernissage in mid-May 2022. \n\nOver 
 the past decade\, Tashme Productions has both developed and toured The Tas
 hme Project: The Living  Archives\, their signature theatre piece\, acros
 s the country\, broadening and deepening our network of  Japanese Canadia
 n community activists and artists. Yume. Digital Dreams represents the nex
 t evolution of  their role in the national Japanese Canadian community an
 d presents yet another opportunity to contribute a  healthy and vitalized
  dialogue around Japanese Canadian identity and legacy.  \n\nThis project
  would not be possible without a generous grant from the Canada Council fo
 r the Arts Digital Now  Fund\; and the project is indebted to the Nationa
 l Association of Japanese Canadians’ ACE (Arts\, Culture\,  Education) 
 Committee who administrates the Japanese Canadian Artist Directory\, for t
