Roosevelt signing Executive Order 9066\, which sent ove r 120\,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry to American concentration camps. The year 2013 is significant because it is the 25th anniversary of the pa ssage of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 providing a Presidential apology and redress for lost liberty and property.\n\nThe program this year will i nclude a panel discussion of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 and other leg al challenges to the forced removal from the West Coast\, the role of the National JACL and Portland JACL in the Redress effort\, and current threat s to civil liberties contained in the National Defense Authorization Act.
