My mother makes her ozoni as a shoyu-based (not miso) soup with nappa, tofu, mizuna, carrots, and daikon (she has "cookie" shape cutters she uses to cut the carrots and daikon into sakura flower shapes). Then, we add in mochi at the end to soften before serving.
