Organized Sports Leagues and Teams in Chicago

Licensing

The Chicago Nisei Athletics Association was founded in the 1940's and was as an important part of the Japanese American community through the 1980's. Although the group was eventually dissolved, several other sports organizations have been created and continue to contribue to the Japanese American community today.

Zephers1948

The Zephers were a Japanese American baseball team in Chicago in 1948.

The CNAA boy's baseball team plays in Chicago's Grant Park, which was reserved specifically for the CNAA teams.

CNAA Basketball 1975

Young boys play at the basketball clinic created by the JACL. The clinic composed of 12 to 15 year olds was a predecessor to the official recognition of the Chicago Nisei Athletic Association (CNAA).
