The Japanese American Museum of San Jose (JAMsj) is pleased to announce that we will once again be a host venue for the Center for Asian American Media's CAAMFest San Jose showcase. CAAMFest San Jose presents films and events reflecting the impact and influence of Asian Americans in Silicon Valley and their continuous innovation in technology, arts and culture, media, and community.

JAMsj will screen a selection of episodes from Lucky Chow , a six-part PBS series, which follows LuckyRice founder Danielle Chang as she travels across America, exploring the Asian food landscape. Episodes include “Ramen Mania,” featuring the ramen craze that has swept the country, and “Bay Area’s Pacific Rim Cuisine,” highlighting local culinary purveyors.

We are looking forward to having Donald Young, producer of Lucky Chow , in attendance. In addition, the Kushi Yaki Kuishinbo food truck, local purveyor of typical Japanese street food, will be present after the show to offer its food items for sale.

DONALD YOUNG , director of programs for CAAM, oversees its program area. In this capacity, he develops and implements CAAM’s national productions and PBS strategies. In public television, Young has supervised the national broadcasts of more than 150 award-winning projects. As a producer, he has worked on both documentaries and independent feature films. His most recent productions include documentaries on ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and former Louisiana U.S. Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao. Young has also taught film at the University of California, Davis, and the University of Hawaii, Manoa.

Cost: Free with admission to the museum (nonmembers, $5; students and seniors over age 65, $3; JAMsj members and children under 12, free).
RSVP: Contact PublicPrograms@jamsj.org , or call (408) 294-3138, to reserve a spot.
