DESCRIPTION:Yakimono: A Celebration of Japanese American Ceramic Art\n\nThe
  Xiem Gallery in Pasadena\, California\, is very proud to host a unique an
 d thoughtful exhibition of works by Japanese American ceramicists\, select
 ed by Mary Ichino. The "Yakimono" exhibition will feature the work of 11 J
 apanese American ceramic artists specifically to honor the contributions t
 hese artists have made to furthering the art of ceramics in the United Sta
 tes. Mary Ichino\, who is coordinating this ambitious project\, is an acco
 mplished studio potter of note and has also worked as an instructor\, art 
 consultant and ceramics technician during her 40-year involvement in the f
 ield. \n\nThe artists featured in the Yakimono exhibition are 2nd and 3rd 
 generation Americans of Japanese ancestry\, most of whom live in Southern 
 California. Each of the selected artists is individually established in th
 e field of fine art ceramics. They are educators and fine arts professiona
 ls. The work of each of the 11 artists is widely shown and collected. Howe
 ver\, never before have all 11 artist been shown together in a group show 
 allowing for a unique chance to encounter the power and significance of th
 eir shared experience and individual perspectives. This group show reflect
 s great diversity of technique and influence and offers an exceptional opp
 ortunity to explore the parameters of Japanese American ceramics sensibili
 ty.\n\nFeatured Artists for the Yakimono exhibition are:\nDon and Linda As

 \n\nThe Xiem Gallery Opening for Yakimono is Saturday\, July 9th\, 6 to 8 
 pm and is free and open to the public. The Yakimono exhibition runs though
  August 27\, 2005 and the Xiem Gallery is open from 10am to 6pm\, Tuesday 
 through Saturday.  \nAdditional hours and days for group tours of the Yaki
