The "Yakimono" exhibition will feature the work of 11 J apanese American ceramic artists specifically to honor the contributions t hese artists have made to furthering the art of ceramics in the United Sta tes. Mary Ichino\, who is coordinating this ambitious project\, is an acco mplished studio potter of note and has also worked as an instructor\, art consultant and ceramics technician during her 40-year involvement in the f ield. \n\nThe artists featured in the Yakimono exhibition are 2nd and 3rd generation Americans of Japanese ancestry\, most of whom live in Southern California. Each of the selected artists is individually established in th e field of fine art ceramics. They are educators and fine arts professiona ls. The work of each of the 11 artists is widely shown and collected. Howe ver\, never before have all 11 artist been shown together in a group show allowing for a unique chance to encounter the power and significance of th eir shared experience and individual perspectives.
