Al no haber un plan de inmigración pactado y oficial entre Japón y Chile, los japoneses que emigraron fueron pocos y por esta razón, en materia de religión la mayoría se rigió en lo formal por ella y eso se ve especialmente en los casamientos, crianza de los hijos y en los funerales.
