Making an album from items already uploaded

Nikkei Album is a great tool for sharing stories online. But what if you don’t have your own photos or videos to help tell your story?

You can create albums using photos, videos, and other items that have already been uploaded to Nikkei Album!

Want to share your family’s experience during World War II, but don’t have a photo of your family at Heart Mountain? Want to tell the story of Japanese Brazilians immigration, but don’t have your own source materials? Search Nikkei Album for related images and files, then borrow them to help illustrate your own story.

Whether it’s your own items you’ve previously uploaded, or someone else’s image, it’s easy to include in your albums!

  1. Find the item(s) that you would like to use for your album. You can browse through the items, use the search tool, or tags to find what you want.
  2. At the bottom of each item page, there is a drop-down menu that reads “Add to new or existing collection…” Use the drop-down options to add the item to an existing album, or just keep it at the top option to create a new album with that item.
  3. Click “Add”

OR

  1. From a search results page, check the box next to the item(s) that you would like to include in your album.
  2. From the drop-down menu near the top of the page, select the album that you would like to include the item OR simply select “add to new or existing collection…”
  3. Click “Add”
