Roy Wesley

My father, Newton Wesley, changed our family name, Uyesugi, at the end of World War II because he thought it would be too difficult to be in business as an optometrist. People would not be able to find him in the telephone book or even pronounce the name. His parents were Methodists so he chose the name of the founder in an effort to appease them. It did not help as they still did not like the change, but learned to accept it.
