Bunkado: Gifts and Music

Irene Tsukada-Germain

Irene now owns Bunkado, and tries to keep it as close to its original purpose, as well as letting it evolve with the times. She made her first trip to Japan in 2008 to buy new items for the store, as her mother had done before her. Here, she shows off a traditional hair ornament worn by Japanese dancers. This picture shows Irene’s playful attitude toward the store because she still gets excited by the items, just as she loved looking at the toys in the stockroom when she was a girl.
