 . This project includes an art exhibit and public programs that cover up t
 o 40 years of work by artists rooted in the Asian American communities of 
 the Bay Area "Deep Roots\, New Shoots&rdquo\; will also host artist salons
 \, art workshops\, individual artist retrospectives\, visual\, literary an
 d performing arts collaborations and panel discussions on issues affecting
  the Japanese American community. &ldquo\;Deep Roots&rdquo\; acknowledges 
 their past and reviews their development over the years\, while &ldquo\;Ne
 w Shoots&rdquo\; showcases their current work alongside the work of a new 
 generation of artists from the community.<strong>\n</strong>\n\nFeatured a
 rtists include Christine Balza\, Holly Calica\, Frederick Cloyd\, Aimee Es
 piritu\, Nancy Hom\, Judith Kajiwara\, Betty Kano\, Stephanie Lowe\, Van N
 guyen Stone\, Stuart Sugawara\, Leon Sun\, Sabrena Taylor\, Rich Tokeshi\,
  Tai Chan Tokeshi\, Leland Wong\, Peter Yamamoto\, and Hideo "Chester" Yos

 text-decoration: underline\;">About J-town Arts(JtA)\n\nSeeing art and lit
 erature as a reflection of the true experiences and feelings of the common
  people\, the JtA strives to make art accessible\, relevant and inspiring\
 , contributing to the grassroots empowerment of Asian Pacific American com
 munities in a multicultural U.S. JtA hopes to contribute to and help susta
 in an informed and unified voice and vision for the Bay Area Asian America
 n communities by providing a blank canvas for artists of the Asian America
 n experience to express their diversity and creativity.\n\nPrograms and Ac
 tivities: The JtA works with community groups and projects to promote a st
 rong\, vibrant community. This is done through collaborating on art exhibi
 ts\, classes\, educational panels and artist salons\, among other activiti
 es. Activities such as JtA&rsquo\;s quarterly coffee house salons\, and it
 s monthly silkscreen\, &ldquo\;Men At Work\,&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;Women Mak
 ing Art&rdquo\; workshops take place at community venues such as the galle
 ries at NJAHS and JCCCNC Gallery and the Japantown Peace Plaza. JtA has ac
 tively participated in community festivals for four decades\, creating art
 work for local festivals such as Nihonmachi Street Fair and Cherry Blossom
