About the Film:
Paper Chase explores the evolution of the Japanese Americans and their first cultural institutions—the vernacular newspapers.  From the arrival of the first immigrants in the late 1860s, to the struggles against discrimination, to the World more than 150 years of history.  Rare footage and photographs are combined with key interviews to trace the incredible journey of Japanese in America.  Along the way, Paper Chase attempts to answer the unavoidable question:  Will Japanese American community newspapers survive?

This program is in partnership with the Zentoku Foundation, a non-profit organization created to help grow and strengthen the Japanese American community by developing a convenient, user friendly, and meaningful path for each generation to connect with one another.
