Opinions on digital currencies are sharply divided between enthusiasts who embrace them, believing that they will replace banks altogether, and those who claim cryptocurrencies are a bubble that will disappear over the coming years. Despite these concerns, digital currencies seem to move toward mainstream adoption. Financial institutions are considering adopting digital currencies or even establishing their own. Facebook recently jumped onto the cryptocurrency bandwagon, announcing the rollout of Libra in 2020. Are digital currencies the future of money?
