What is COPANI?

The name COPANI was formed from the Spanish words Convención Panamericana Nikkei which translates to Pan American Nikkei Convention. It is an event held every two years in a member country of the Pan American Nikkei Association (PANA) or Asociación Panamericana Nikkei (APN). PANA/APN is an international, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious institution that brings together Japanese descendants of the Americas. The first convention was held in 1981 in Mexico City after being conceived by the founding president, Mr. Carlos Kasuga.

Keynote Speaker: Norman Y. Mineta, Former Secretary of Transportation and U.S. Secretary of Commerce
