Director Chris Hope, a member of JANM’s Board of Governors, takes his grandmother, Nancy Hatsumi Okura, to visit the sites in Canada where she was incarcerated during World War II.

The story comes to life in vivid detail as the two discuss Okura’s wartime experiences for the first time. The film follows Hope and Okura across Canada and, unexpectedly, around the world.

Read an interview with director Chris Hope on DiscoverNikkei.org.
