The Flea Theater is proud to present Kurotama Kikaku’s production of Kutsukake Tokijiro , based on the popular 1920s Japanese play written by Shin Hasegawa. Theatre artist Jun Kim will adapt and create the new work, which previews November 10, with an opening night slated for November 13.

Kutsukake Tokijiro is a traditional Japanese lone wolf gangster story that explores the themes of love and obligation and the spirit of self-sacrifice. After Tokijiro slays Sanzo, a rival yakuza, he embarks on an aimless journey with Sanzo’s wife and son, blurring the boundaries between his obligation to Sanzo and his unspoken feelings of love for Sanzo’s wife.
