Part of the Lincoln Center Festival. Fresh from its highly successful world premiere in Yokohama, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion is a stunning tale of the power of beauty and its corruption of the mind of a young monk, Mizoguchi, who becomes obsessed with beauty’s destruction. Taking as its basis the classic Japanese novel Kinkakuji by the late Yukio Mishima, one of 20th-century Japan’s best recognized and most renowned authors, this groundbreaking play paints an intensely personal picture of Japan in the very troubled time surrounding World War II.
