The tragedy and hardships of the consequences of Executive Order 9066 impacted many Japanese Americans.  In an effort to honor those JAs who were forcibly removed and prevented from completing their UC education, the UCs have taken great stride to present to these Niseis by awarding them honorary degrees.

Currently, the UCs are searching for former students, or friends and families of these former students, to give them the recognition they deserve.  Go to http://honorary.universityofcalifornia.edu/  for more information.
