Free documentary screening of “The Cats of Mirikitani” followed by a panel discussion on the long misunderstood World War II Tule Lake Segregation Center. Explore why close to 6,000 Americans of Japanese descent, mostly from Tule Lake, renounced their American citizenship during the war.

The Cats of Mirikitani” is a gripping film which demonstrates how the tragedies of 9/11 brought together a Japanese American homeless artist and a film student to heal the wounds of another war.

Panelist will include former Tuleans Bill Nishimura, Kuniko Sato, and Frank Sumida.
