Tohkon Judo Academy welcomes in the New Year at its annual Kagami-Biraki celebration on Saturday, January 12, 2008. The festivities will begin at 8 am with the traditional Mochi-Tsuki, the pounding and shaping of sweet rice into mochi. Reverend Goro Oki will perform a traditional Shinto purification service at noon, followed by entertainment by the drummers of Kokyo Taiko and a demonstration by students of Tohkon Judo Academy. A potluck fellowship luncheon concludes the event.

Tohkon Judo Academy's Kagami-Biraki will be held at the Japanese American Service Committee, 4427 N. Clark Street, Chicago.
