"In 2003, more than sixty years after the end of World War II and her release, de Queiroz devoted eleven months to painting what would eventually become 'Camp Days: 1942-1945,' a collection of 61 watercolor paintings about life at Camp Poston. 'This is what I wanted to leave for my grandchildren,; de Queiroz said. 'I wanted them to know what their parents and family went through.'"
